Welcome to the EPA Your Say online forum about the Environment Protection (Vehicle Emissions) Regulations ('Regulations') Review. To get involved sign up via the 'Register to get involved' link on the right hand side of this page and take a seat at the 'virtual' table to join in the discussion.

Victoria's vehicle emissions Regulations aim to minimise the impact of motor vehicle air emissions, noise and fuel. These Regulations will expire in January 2013.

EPA Victoria ('EPA') and the Department of Sustainability and Environment ('DSE') are examining whether the Regulations should be remade and, if so, what should be in them. We'd like to hear your views on this issue. As a first step we have released a discussion paper. You can find it in the library on the right hand side of this page.

Some after-market equipment can make vehicles noisier or more polluting.

Registration suspension generally occurs when a vehicle owner fails to comply with a legal notice after a reminder to comply has been issued.

Are there any options that should be considered for reducing emissions from fuel?

For example, NSW has introduced Stage 1 and Stage 2 vapour recovery which respectively recovers vapours from petrol stations during unloading by road fuel tankers and when vehicle owners refuel.

For example, requiring vehicle owners to prove that they have repaired their vehicle.

California has a vehicle inspection and maintenance program whereby certain vehicles are required to undergo regular maintenance.
